Cold enough for ya?
The Coney Island Polar Bear Club is the oldest winter bathing organization in the United States. The club invites one and all to swim in the Atlantic Ocean at Coney Island every Sunday from November through April.
The annual New Year's Day swim is the biggest swim of them all! The swim starts at 1PM but swimmers should come early to register. Bring warm clothes, surf boots or old sneakers, towels, and of course your camera! The NYC Parks Department provides changing facilities on the Boardwalk at Stillwell Avenue.
This year, swimmers and observers are encouraged to make a donation to Camp Sunshine. Those who do will receive a free breakfast and all-day admission to the New York Aquarium.
Stay tuned for more details.
