Brought to you by Deno's Wonder Wheel

serena

On Saturday after the Mermaid Parade and all day Sunday, the float created by Wonder Wheel Park founder Denos D. Vourderis for  the very first Mermaid Parade in 1983 will be on display next to the Wonder Wheel!

The float, featuring a circa 1939 papier mache mermaid encrusted in sea glass and shells--her new name is Serena!--is being restored in honor of the 30th Anniversary of the Mermaid Parade and will be the centerpiece of Deno's Wonder Wheel Park's float in Saturday's parade. Stop by the landmark Wonder Wheel this weekend to "meet" and take souvenir photos with Deno's rejuvenated 73-year-old mermaid!

Also on Mermaid Day, the first 1,000 people who ride the Wonder Wheel will receive a free limited edition commemorative "I ♥ WONDER WHEEL" button.
